Congratulations to all of the phenomenally creative Lens Creators in 2020 who have been a part of an AR Lens Challenge! Although Lens Studio was new to you, that didn’t stop you from leveling up to design your own AR experiences.
2020 Design Brief
Our world has rapidly changed in 2020 between COVID-19, remote work and school, an unsteady economy, and protests against racism. What if we could fast forward to 2021 even if it was for five minutes? Take a minute to imagine a different world. What would you want to include? How would you want to make someone feel?
We want to understand the world you would want to live in right now. As a designer, we want you to help us explore that world by building a Lens that could (metaphorically speaking), transport us to the reality you chose to create.

2021 Design Brief
Even if you haven’t seen Urban Light, we want you to design a Lens that incorporates the artwork in a fun and unique way. Ultimately, we want to understand your individual interpretation of what this iconic piece of art says about LA or what it means to you. Our goal in this challenge is to understand how you would transport us to experience Urban Light in a fun, engaging, and interactive way given that we’ve been unable to experience this public art in person for a while. Ask yourself: What images would you design? What special effects would you include? What movements would trigger those special effects?
